Jane Austen Wedding Mood For These Charming At Home Nuptials
It’s entirely coincidental that the bride’s name is Emma. What we can’t possibly believe was not fated in the stars, however, is the couple’s love story: a classic tale of friends turned lovers that began back in their high school years. You know us. We’re suckers for a slow burn. The Jane Austen wedding vibes didn’t stop there, though! The femme aesthetics are like Italian ice cream – a confection of fresh pastels that are sweet to the core. Gardenview Flowers transformed the prettiest corners of Emma’s childhood home into bona fide conservatories, all rooms sprouting with verdant greens and cream-colored roses. The couple called upon Jeannene Lillie Events to complete the rest of the design puzzle, and the result could not possibly be more charming. Vintage china place settings atop embroidered robin’s egg blue table runners, bottle-green bud vases with freshly plucked petals, embossed goblets the color of cherry blossoms. Speaking of, the couple’s First Look beneath the visually delicious sakura trees was an idea of pure genius from Photographer Jenna Greenawalt. With a story as compelling as E+D’s, we know you’re ready to dive into their full Jane Austen wedding-esque gallery below.
From the Designer, Jeannene Lillie Events: Emma and David hosted their intimate garden party inspired wedding day at Emma’s childhood home with their closest loved ones. Their day was filled with a vulnerable intimacy that was made possible by being in the home where the couple first fell in love as teenagers during their high school years.
During their wedding planning process, the couple was committed to planning a wedding day where they would be able to be fully present with each other as well as their families. As they explored all the venue options for their intimate wedding they realized that Emma’s parents’ home was the perfect location for them to commit to forever.
Once the venue was locked down, the vision for a garden floral filled ceremony in the sunroom and a intimate dinner party began to form quickly. The anchor the the reception tabletop design was the powder blue linens with leaf motifs embroidered throughout. To keep with the garden party design and compliment the linen style, we paired it with vintage mismatched china, pink champagne glasses, and gold flatware.
Their wedding gave everyone, vendors included, goosebumps during every single moment from the first look and the warming of the rings during the ceremony to the speeches and last hugs as people left the reception. There was not a moment where there wasn’t happy tears in someone’s eyes – it was incredible to watch two families come together to celebrate the love of two deeply in love individuals. The whole evening consisted of hugs, laughter, passing of platters filled with delicious food, the clinking of glasses, and so many special moments shared and witnessed.
In reflection on working as the videographer for this wedding day, Ellen of Ellen DiSorbo Films shared the following, “Every moment of their day was dedicated to the profound love they hold for their families and for one another. From the hand-written letters exchanged by the couple, the wedding rings passed around and prayed over by their families, and the intimate meal shared amongst loved ones after the exchange of vows, every detail of Emma and David’s celebration was planned and executed with thoughtful precision. As their wedding cinematographer, I was inspired by Emma and David’s sweet affection and vulnerability with one another, the sentiment and nostalgia of Emma’s childhood home, and the priority the couple placed upon their guest experience”.
Not only did the couple celebrate their wedding day at an incredibly special location but they also had special touches sprinkled all throughout their day. Emma customed designed all the stationery and signage for their wedding day and curated intentional details to include as a part of her flay lay designs. In celebration of their new shared last name, Nutter, they also had homemade nutter butters as a favor for their guests.
Bride Emma shared the following reflections on their wedding day, “Overall, we wanted our wedding day to be all about us and our families coming together. We didn’t want to lose sight of what the meaning of our wedding day was for the sake of impressing 200 guests. We aren’t people who enjoy small talk or dancing so having it small and intimate eliminated that. We were able to be present with every single one of our guests and we will cherish those memories forever. We also will cherish that we finished our night by 10 PM snuggled up on our couch watching Seinfeld reruns.”
When planning your wedding day, take a page out of Emma and David’s wedding planning book and create a day that honors your relationship, celebrates your connections to family, and ultimately looks and feels amazing! You’ll always be grateful for celebrating the beginning of forever by being authentic to yourselves.
Jane Austen wedding moods have a knack for making us want to cozy up in a reading nook and open a holding-on-by-a-thread copy of Pride & Prejudice, I’ll be honest. And as far as timeless romances go, Emma and David’s is one of the best. We adore the way they stayed true to themselves in their celebration, favoring intimacy + authenticity over a flashy party that just didn’t feel like them. Here’s to more weddings that end at 10pm with plenty of time to watch Seinfeld reruns! We knew we liked these two.
